Eblen Board, Area Businesses Join in Reaching Out to Families This Week

For those of you who are familiar with the Eblen Charities, you know that this upcoming week is historically the busiest week of the year. With hundreds of families visiting our office this week, the wait for assistance may be longer than usual.

With hundreds of families visiting us each day and a possible long wait for assistance, the board and staff at Eblen Charities, along with area restaurants, again raised the bar of service to those in need by making sure that our families are comfortable as they wait by providing breakfast and lunch for all clients throughout the week.

“It isn’t difficult to realize that we had to do more than just offer heating, utility, and our other assistance especially this week when so many come to us for help,” states Bill Murdock, executive director of Eblen Charities. “We couldn’t say that we would help those who call upon us, but they and their children would have to be hungry while they wait. It is a great privilege to work with these wonderful families, along with our board and all those who are joining  us this week in helping provide breakfast and lunch for our clients and staff. Through this simple act of  kindness, our clients will be more comfortable and know how important they are to all of us.”

Our gratitude to all those joining us this week including: The Biltmore Company, Arbys, Krispy Kreme, Bojangles, Chic-fil-A, Rick and Denise Guthy, Carole and Mike Clark, Donna and Grant Parsons, Joe and Janice Brumit, Dini and George Pickering, Harry Jackson, and Neil Newberry.

Also our gratitude to our staff Elizabeth Robinson, Ken Littlejohn, Susan Riddle, Dana Dill, Brenda Wheeler, Sandy Kennedy, Bill Waddell, Amanda Putnam, Ginny Eldridge, Nalina Brenzel, Philippe Rosse, Mary Ann and Ray McMinn, and all of our wonderful volunteers who work so tirelessly and selflessly to ensure that our families are taken care of during these difficult times and as winter approaches.
