Neal Hanks Sr. Memorial Rental/Mortgage Assistance Program
To help in assisting those in our community who have to decide between paying their rent or mortgage, purchasing medication, or paying for other needs, the Neal Hanks Sr. Rental/Mortgage Assistance Program was created.
HPRP - Homeless Prevention and Rapid Rehousing – Stimulus funded program that provides short to midterm housing and funding who are homeless or at risk for being homeless
TBRA - Tenant Based Rental Assistance – provides security deposits who are homeless or at risk for being homeless
CDBG - Community Development Block Grant – through Asheville, helps children who are homeless or who are at risk working directly with the schools to find housing and to pay for it – 1-3 months of support. – housing services – landlord mediation, and other support services (budgeting)
Emergency Food and Shelter - In partnership with the Buncombe County Department of Social Services, the Emergency Food and Shelter Program (formerly FEMA) provides federal funds to assist families in need of rent, mortgage payments, utility assistance and food. This program will pay for one months rent up to $300, once a year, as funding is available.
