Asheville, North Carolina has been known across the nation and the world as “Beer City “ for some time. With more than two dozen breweries and more than 100 local beers available, Asheville has more breweries per-capita than any other city in the country.

With a reputation as the home of outstanding breweries there is one that has set themselves apart, not only for their award winning beer, but for their outreach to the community, especially those in need, even before they opened their doors.

Wicked Weed Brewing, a long-time partner of Eblen Charities has expanded their partnership with two programs that will continue to touch the lives of tens of thousands of families who are facing difficult times and have nowhere else to turn.

This month, Wicked Weed presented Eblen Charities with two checks for $100,000 each. One to continue their employee assistance program which assists their employees who are in need of help and facing difficult times. The second program takes the concept of their employee assistance program and expands its outreach to help families in our community facing troubled times and in need help.

The Wicked Weed Help at Home Emergency Assistance Program is a unique partnership between Wicked Weed and Eblen Charities that will not only enhance the emergency assistance outreach of Eblen Charities but will create a new program and offer new opportunities for Eblen and Wicked Weed to serve the community and reach out to those who find themselves battling illnesses, disabilities, or are in times of need.

“Wicked Weed Brewing is honored to be partnering with Eblen Charities in establishing the Help at Home Emergency Assistance Program. The ownership of Wicked Weed Brewing has been very involved with Eblen Charities for more than 20 years and we have always been so grateful for what this organization has meant to the local community,” states Rick Guthy of Wicked Weed. “They continue to humbly and diligently serve our neighbors in need…and somehow, someway find new ways to assist and give wherever and whenever needed. Eblen Charities is definitely a lifeline to many and Wicked Weed Brewing is excited to help launch this new Eblen program.”

“There are very few companies in our community that have impacted the lives of so many lives and especially those who are having to face troubled and difficult times as the wonderful folks at Wicked Weed Brewing,” says Bill Murdock, Executive Director of Eblen Charities. “It is important, I think, for everyone to know, not only of their generosity, but the fact that it is nothing new for Rick and Wicked Weed. They have been reaching out to so many in our community for more than two decades. Rick has been a long-time friend and one of the founding members of Eblen Charities. He and Wicked Weed have helped thousands upon thousands of courageous children, adults, and families who, through no fault of their own have to face difficult situations and seek help. Every community should be so fortunates as to have a Wicked Weed Brewing in their community.”
