Eblen Charities Walk, Run and Roll Set for October 14th

17TH ANNUAL EVENT RETURNS AGAIN TO A-B TECH

Hundreds of walkers, runners, and teams will take to the campus of Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College on Saturday, October 14th for the Seventeenth Annual Eblen Charities Walk, Run, and Roll.

One of Eblen Charities most popular and anticipated events, The Walk will benefit the thousands of children and families living with the effects of illnesses and disabilities and in need of emergency assistance in western North Carolina.

Once again, The Walk will include a 5k and 10k walk course for walkers and runners of all ages, a kid zone with face painting, bicycle decorating, games, special guest appearances, giveaways and Zumba warm up area.

“We are delighted that so many are joining us again this year to reach out and help those courageous families that Eblen serves on a daily basis. With every step taken, more medication, food, heating assistance, and other emergency aid becomes available to those who may not be able to receive help elsewhere,” says Heather Wright, chairperson of The Walk. “Eblen not only gives them hope, but actual assistance to help them breathe a bit easier.”

The Walk festivities begin on Wednesday, September 13th with the annual Walk Kick-Off Luncheon at Outback on Tunnel Road at 11:30 AM.

We are again welcoming runners, strollers, and other “rollers” as the The Walk offers the opportunity for everyone who would like to join us for this exciting event.

Last year, more than 600 walkers participated in raising more than $30,000 to assist tens of thousands of local families with medication, food, heat, rent and mortgage assistance and other emergency aid.

“These are most certainly trying times for many in our community. As needs continue to grow for so many courageous families this past year, we have seen a record number of families calling upon us for assistance. The Walk is a very important event for us every year and is even more so this year. We welcome everyone’s help and invite all to join us as we work together to touch the lives of so many here in our community,” adds Bill Murdock, executive director of Eblen Charities.

The event will begin with registration at 9:00 AM, take to the road at 9:45 AM and finish around 11:30 AM.
