For thousands of families and their children in our community the Christmas season doesn’t begin in the pre-dawn hours of “Black Friday” or the early sales on Thanksgiving evening.
For them, Christmas begins with the kindness of countless families, companies, organizations and individuals who generously volunteer and donate toys and dollars to the Eblen Charities St. Nicholas Project. This year, Eblen Charities is again honored and privileged to be joining two events this week that have become as much of a tradition in our mountains as the “Jolly Old Elf” himself.
This Thursday, the Sixth Annual Ingles Magical Christmas Toy Drive will begin its three day event in partnership with Ingles Markets, WLOS-TV 13, WMYA -My40, Star 104.3, the Brew 97.7, WWNC-570, Rock 105.1, the Asheville Citizen-Times,
Great Beginnings Dental, Wicked Weed Brewing, Friday Staffing, AVL Technologies, and Two Men and a Truck.

JOIN US THIS YEAR FOR THE SAINT NICHOLAS PROJECT
The St. Nicholas Project is Eblen’s Most Popular Event
Don’t miss out on helping with this year’s Saint Nicholas Project. We began registering families who need help on October 1 and already have more than 1,000 children registered. Eblen Charities is one of the few local organization serving children at Christmas each year through the age of 18.
There are Several Opportunities to be Involved:
Host a Toy Drop-off Box
If your business, organization or school would like to be a site for toy collections, contact Tim Gwennap at 828-768-3536. We will get the boxes to you and schedule a time to pick them up throughout the month of December.
Help Staff the Ingles Toy Store
Volunteers are needed to staff the toy store which is open Monday through Friday from December 9 to December 23. If you would like to work a three hour shift in the store, contact Bonnie King at 828-777-3383.
Donate Toys or Make A Financial Contribution
Toy boxes are at numerous sites throughout our community and you are welcome to drop off toys at the Eblen Charities Waddell Client Service Center at 50 Westgate Parkway (in the Westgate Shopping Center) or at the Ingles Toy Store at 80 Westgate Parkway in the Westgate Shopping Center beginning December 8.
Many times families enjoy bringing their children to make these donations. What a wonderful way to emphasize the joy of giving! Financial contributions are greatly appreciated. We use these funds to purchase toys that supplement those donated. Checks can be mailed to Eblen Charities at 50 Westgate Parkway, Asheville, NC 28806 or made online at www.eblencharities.org
