This Wednesday, some of the greatest names in wrestling will once again join the fight against childhood hunger in our community. World Wrestling Entertainment Superstars and Hall of Fame Members will be here as part of the Fourth Annual Headlock on Hunger Food Drive to benefit the Ingles / Eblen Food for Thought Program to help ensure that no student in our community has to face hunger while away from school.
Hall of fame broadcaster and former World Wrestling Entertainment Executive Vice-President, current Fox Sports commentator, and Headlock on Hunger National Chairman Jim Ross, four-time WWE Woman’s Champion and WWE Hall of Famer Beth Phoenix, and leader of the legendary Four Horsemen and WWE hall of Famer James J. Dillion will be at the event collecting food and donations for Headlock on Hunger at the Ingles on Tunnel Road. The event will run from 4:30 AM to 7 PM with signings from 10-12 and 1-3.
“We are excited and most grateful to Ingles, their vendors, and our other partners once again, as well as Jim, Adam, Beth and JJ for joining us for Headlock on Hunger, not only lending their name but their time and effort to touch so many children and continue our fight against children’s hunger in our community” states Bill Murdock, executive director of Eblen Charities.
“I am honored to be a part of the Headlock on Hunger team and serve as the national chairman,” adds Jim Ross, “as there is nothing more important or rewarding than to help feed a child in need. Hunger will be pinned.”
“I am honored and thrilled to have been offered the role of National Vice-Chair for Headlock on Hunger. This local effort is near and dear to my heart because, being a mother to two beautiful little girls, I know how important it is to nourish our children’s bodies, challenge their minds and meet their needs,” states Beth. “No child should feel empty. A full tummy is a basic necessity for a child to be able to learn, grow and play. Most of all, every child deserves to feel nurtured and loved. I am so proud to be a part of Headlock on Hunger and the continuing effort of our community to end childhood hunger for good!”
In addition many of Ingles vendors are joining the fight by generously donating their products to make sure all students will not have to face hunger as well as additional Headlock on Hunger partners WLOS-TV, iheart Radio, Asheville Citizen-Times, Arby’s, the Brumit Restaurant Group, and WNC Wrestlers in Business. This year a number of companies and organizations will be joining the fight by collecting food for Headlock on Hunger including: A-B Tech, AvL Technologies, Beverly-Hanks& Associates, Kimmel and Associates, and Wilson Art International.
An outgrowth of the Ingles / Eblen Food for Thought Program and the Arby’s / Eblen Joyfull Holidays at Home, Headlock on Hunger brings together public, private, and sports organizations to help provide meals for students who may not have enough to eat at home during the extended holiday breaks from school. The food collected will be distributed through Buncombe County Schools and resource centers to those students in need throughout the summer and other extended breaks including Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Spring vacations.
