How far would you go to help someone in need? If you are familiar with Eblen Charities these past years you are no doubt familiar with this question that we pose to our community each year as fall nears.
There is little doubt that most everyone would go to extraordinary lengths to help those in times of need. But once again we are not asking for extraordinary lengths, all we are asking for is just six miles.
If three or six miles seem like a fairly easy distance to go to help those children, adults, and families in our community in their time of need, here is a good chance to put on your walking shoes, get your friends and co-workers together, and hit the road on Saturday, October 13th on the campus of Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College’s main campus on Victoria Road.
This Wednesday, September 12th, Outback Steakhouse is hosting the 18th Annual Heroes for Hope Walk Kick Off on Tunnel Road. We invite all who are interested in walking with Eblen and reaching out to those who are battling in these difficult times.
The walk will be held on Saturday, October 13th on the main campus of A-B Tech and will continue its focus this October to serve serve more of the needs in our community than ever before. The funds raised from this year’s walk will benefit the students and families in Buncombe County.
Of all the programs that Eblen offers and all the children and families we serve, one of the greatest increases we have seen come from the needs of area children in school and their families who are struggling to provide food, clothes, school supplies, a place to live, and to be able to keep the lights on at home.
Prizes and awards will be given for the most money raised, largest team, and for levels of funds raised. Every walker will receive an Eblen Walk T-Shirt. If you would like to join the fun of the Eblen Walk, Run, and Roll Kick Off luncheon this Wednesday or The Walk on October 13th please contact [email protected]
