FOURTH ANNUAL ASHEVILLE RUNNING EXPERIENCE TO BENEFIT EBLEN CHARITIES SEPTEMBER 21-22nd

The most unique and exciting running event that the mountains of western North Carolina has ever seen returns for the fourth year to benefit the children, adults, and families in need in our community.

On September 21-23 the Asheville Running Experience once again takes to the streets with a variety of running and playing options for hundreds of local and visiting runners.

The event was created to represent what it is to live and run in Asheville with options on both road and trail and to highlight the best of Asheville as only those who live here can do.

Glory Hound Events and Kick It Events, have made giving back a priority in both their personal lives and in their businesses. To that end, they are again partnering with Eblen Charities to provide funds to for programs that touch so many lives in our community including the Arby’s Joyfull Holiday at Home and the Ingles Food for Thought programs.

The weekend kicks off with The Happening, the most unique packet pick up in town. on Friday, September 21 , where runners pick up their packets, visit with our sponsors and catch some of the live music that will be taking place at The Salvage Station at 468 Riverside Drive in Asheville .

Saturday, September 22nd begins with the Black Orthodonics Super Hero – Super Villain 10 K:

Super Hero 10K – The race will start at the Salvage Station and go up Hill Street for a short distance before heading into Montford. The race will use portions of Cumberland Avenue, Flint Street and the Reedy Creek Greenway before returning to the Salvage Station via Houston Street. The 5K course has 347 feet of vertical gain, See the 5K course map HERE.

Super Villain 10K- This race will start ten minutes before the 5K, splitting off at Houston Street.The course will utilize portions of Pearson Street, Westover, Hibriton, the Reedy Creek Greenway, and Cumberland Avenue before returning to the Salvage Station via Houston Street. The 10K course has 548 feet of vertical gain.See the 10K course map HERE.

On Sunday, September 23rd , the running shifts off road with the Chasing Trail 8K at Richmond Hill Park. Runners will navigate the single­ track trails only a few miles from our bustling downtown.

That same day, teams of four adults or family teams will begin receiving clues and solving tasks as part of The Incredible Frugal Backpacker Asheville Urban Odyssey. The Urban Odyssey is the most fun scavenger hunt you will ever do and a perfect representation of Asheville. Teams of four will leave One World Brewing – 10 Patton Ave- every ten minutes beginning at 12 noon and follow a series of clues to both obscure and well known Asheville locations.

At each location, a team member must complete a specific task before receiving their next clue (each team member will need to complete two tasks). After a team completes its eighth task they will make their way back to APB for their final challenge. The completion of the final challenge will constitute the finish time.The use of smart phones is not only allowed but highly encouraged. Teams can phone a friend or ask passersby for assistance. The only rule is you follow traffic laws along the route.
