The Walk, Run, and Roll Steps Out at A-B Tech This Saturday

October has a special meaning to all of us in our mountains. The air becomes crisp, leaves begin to turn to a bright pallet of color against the sky, and Friday nights along with Saturday and Sunday afternoons are filled with football.

But October has an additional meaning to all of us that have been involved with Eblen Charities. The crisp air and bright autumn colors put us into high gear for events and campaigns to help raise funds to continue to reach out to those we serve all year long.

This Saturday, October 13th the Eblen Charities Walk, Run, or Roll takes to the A-B Tech Main Campus on Victoria Road as hundreds of walkers join together to walk for many who can’t.

This year The Walk, Run, and Roll is 5k (three miles) or 10k (six miles) around the beautiful campus of our community college, beginning at 9:00 am and finishing around noon with lunch from Outback.

If five or ten k seems like a fairly easy distance to go to help those children, adults, and families in our community in their time of need, here is a good chance to put on your walking shoes, get your friends together, and hit the road this Saturday.

Last year, nearly 800 walkers participated in raising more than $30,000 to assist tens of thousands of local families with medication, food, heat, rent and mortgage assistance and other emergency aid. These are most certainly trying times for many in our community.

As needs continue to grow for so many courageous families this past year, we have seen a record number of families calling upon us for assistance. The Walk is a very important event for us every year and is even more so this year. We welcome everyone’s help and invite all to join us as we work together to touch the lives of so many here in our community.

There are also many prizes to be won by teams and individuals. All participants will receive an Outback Steakhouse Heroes for Hope Walk, Run, and Roll T-Shirt.
