Job Description Summary
The Development and Events Director is responsible for the management and coordination of the annual fundraising plan, communication and events, in partnership with and under the direction of the Executive Director.
This position creates and executes outreach, communications, and marketing plans; facilitates fundraising campaigns and events; builds and maintains sponsor relationships with individuals, businesses and organizations and faith communities in partnership with other staff. This position is also responsible for annual events outside of the fundraising area including our coat drive and St. Nicholas Project toy store. Ultimately, this person will help Eblen Charities grow its revenue and public presence, resulting in our being able to better serve our WNC community.
Responsibilities – Fundraising, Events and Communications
Create and execute an annual fundraising plan.
Manage donor recruitment, retention, cultivation and stewardship.
Develop and execute sponsorship program for the agency’s work.
Utilize our donor database software (DonorPerfect) with best practices to help recruit, retain and manage our donor and volunteer relationships.
Plan and facilitate all agency events.
Oversee communications to create, develop and distribute compelling messages and media targeted to donors, volunteers, and other stakeholders utilizing social media, newsletters
Deep connection to the mission and work of Eblen Charities, and the ability to convey that commitment and passion.
Excellent communication skills in verbal, written and digital formats.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage a diverse group of people and develop and nurture relationships.
Detail oriented, well organized, focused and goal oriented – while also having a high level of initiative, flexibility and the ability to problem solve.
General office and computer skills – including Word and Excel.
Experience and a proven track record of success with fundraising and donor relations.
Experience working with successful events of varying types.
Experience with a donor database.
A “Can-do” attitude and flexibility.
Ability to work independently and with a team.
Experience working with volunteers.
An understanding of and commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion practices.
A deep respect for our clients and understanding of poverty in our community.
The ideal candidate will have 3 or more years of experience working with nonprofit events, fundraising and/or communications.
