Eblen Charities Appoints National Nonprofit Leader as New Executive Director

Asheville, NC – The Board of Directors of Eblen Charities, a leading nonprofit dedicated to helping people in need in Western North Carolina, has appointed a new executive director to lead the organization.
Robin Boettcher, who joined Eblen on August 3, brings more than 20 years of nonprofit leadership experience including serving as president and CEO of the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation, a national health nonprofit headquartered in Asheville. While there, Boettcher expanded services for families and grew revenue from $5M to $10M over six years. Since its founding in 1993, Eblen has annually served thousands of individuals and families facing crisis and hardship by providing emergency financial assistance for needs such as housing, heating, food, clothing and funeral expenses. Eblen collaborates with local businesses, city and county agencies, school systems, churches, the media and others to serve the community through a variety of programs. “Eblen’s mission is even more critical now with our community suffering during this unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic,” said Board Chair George Suggs. “We’re thrilled that Robin will use her nonprofit leadership and fundraising expertise to help us expand our programs and services.” Prior to moving to Asheville to lead the PBTF, Boettcher served in executive roles with the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, the National Parkinson Foundation and the ALS Association. Before joining the nonprofit sector, Boettcher worked in the communications and public relations sector in the Raleigh-Durham area for more than 15 years. “I’m honored to work with a passionate team of staff and volunteer leaders to reach and serve more people in need in the community I’m proud to call home,” Boettcher said. “I hope to build on the strong foundation Eblen has built over the past three decades and look forward to working with our incredible partners.” Boettcher and her husband, Grant, live in Arden and have two daughters and three granddaughters in North Carolina.
