You may also apply online for Crisis Intervention and Low Income Energy Assistance programs through the EPass system (https://epass.nc.gov/).

The contact number, to check on the status of your application or to request assistance for Crisis Intervention and Low Income Energy Assistance programs is (828) 250-6330.

The contact number, to check on the status of your application or to request assistance for Emergency Assistance (households with children under 17 for rental or utility assistance) program is (828) 250-5500.

We recognize that this is a change for our community as Eblen Charities has provided this assistance for many years. Our small staff, combined with some of the logistical challenges of being a subcontractor rather than a government agency, made it difficult to keep up with the increased demand for these services from our neighbors. County government staff have access to information and technology that we don’t, and this access means requests will be more easily and quickly processed moving forward.

We expect this shift of services, once complete, will greatly benefit county residents in need, and we are assisting the County with the transition to make it as seamless as possible.”
